Bad judgment

During our recent road trip, I heard a song that will forever make me think of fun and alcohol poisoning... I know, I know, I should not say those two things together, but thank gawd for whatever it is that gets us through our stupid decisions in life...

Imagine if you will... an endless heatwave... going grocery shopping with your roommate/bestest friend... deciding at 9AM that margaritas sound REALLY GOOD... so you buy LARGE QUANTITIES of STUFF at the store, deciding not to eat when you get home, but go straight to the margaritas...

Hours and hours later, after a person or two has left the party, and the margaritas became anything you and your roommate could mix with tequila, if mixing was really even necessary... and after the dancing around and on the table while wearing your roommate's red sheet; dancing to the song below, you decide you probably need a nap, but the man you've been seeing (and will eventually marry) has shown up, decides maybe you need dinner and prepares you food... and stays with you throughout the night, which is a good thing, because you wake up in the wee hours feeling sun burnt and insane... and he gets you water and helps you to the bathroom, and does all sorts of responsible things... while your crazy roommate somehow finds it within himself to actually go out on a first date!!!

That is what this song makes me think of... and when I hear it, I still smile... and thank my lucky stars...

 

If this doesn't cure the Monday blahs, there's no help for you

I could listen to and watch this all day.

Other than that... another busy week in the hopper... light posting/cat-vacuuming continues.

Color Pron

We are still on the receiving end of Holiday Fruit around here... Last evening, a large basket of fruit arrived from someone Grizzled works with. This person always sends it after the holidays, which is nice, since our fruit stash is usually waning. It wasn't this year... and now we had more...

Since it said "Perishable! Open Immediately!" I tried to find places to put it, our fruit bowl was already filled, and there was no room in the fridge. I pulled out my lovely stack of cheapo, but lovely colored, Michael Graves mixing bowls. It only took me a second before I knew what I had to do... all of that bright fruit, all of those colorful bowls. I tried to hide my activity in dinner prep, but heard EL, who is hip to my ways, beckon from the other room...

EL- Mom??? Are you sorting the fruit by color??

Me- ... maybe...

EL- Are you sorting it into complementary colored bowls??

Me- ... maybe...

EL- (muffled reaction)

Me- BUT LOOK AT IT!! When do we ever have this much fruit?? In all of these colors?? OK, we could use a better purple, but come on! Look at how nice those lime green bananas look in that pink bowl! I wish I had painting class this week! I'd take it all in and make them paint IT ALL!!!

And then I went back to making dinner, but left the fruitscape on the counter, forgetting it until Grizzled came home.

G- Did you sort the fruit by color??

Me- YES! I DID!!! I COULDN'T HELP IT! LOOK. AT. IT!!!

G- I was just going to say, you missed the lighter blue bowl... those not-fully ripe tangerines would look really good in it...

He was right.

Crazy Dreams: I blame the potstickers edition

Dream 1 consisted of a scary speedra crawling around in the piles of laundry I had just sorted, but I noticed, although it moved like a speedra, it had googly eyes and was purple. It looked as it it were made out of some kind of shiny plastic. Nonetheless, it creeped me out. I did not want to spend the whole day doing laundry, knowing it was waiting, so I started flinging clothes left and right. Mr. Speedra eventually came out where I promptly stomped him. He was filled with iridescent purple goo... and some kind of robotics and electronics. I kicked him over and saw, "Spyder" printed on his underside... Perhaps he was spying on me to make sure my laundry was properly sorted...

Dream 2 consisted of a cameo by Snag. Poor Snag needed an eye transplant, but since they're not common yet, he opted for the eye from a roadkill deer (maybe a stag...). It was successful and Snag could see again, however, that eye always always looked as if you were viewing it in the dark... it had that eerie glow, no matter the level of light.
