I'm totally with you on the acrophobia!! However, that is ONE AWESOME SHOT!

Wow, that reminds me of these rocks.

Nice pic and view!
~

Thanks, BG! Or I should say, EL thanks you. She's the one who took the photo.

Thundra- no wonder... this was taken in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. A mere 100 miles south of your rocks. I'm guessing the geological formations have some consistency. :)

Edge?

I knew someone would say that... it was enough of an edge for me! You could feel plummeting...

There... I clarified. It was still a mental edge to me! It was steeper in person.

It'd be easier to visualize if you took a picture of your foot, at the edge...
~

I'll tell EL. If it had been my foot, it would have been a photo of it by the edge of the car.

When we were at the Grand Canyon, YZ and I wanted to walk along the edge trails from viewing point to viewing point; but Wife Sublime gets all jittery on edges where one side is open. If there's a railing, she's good.

Meanwhile, the height-adverse Zombizzle was walking up to the edges of the canyon, over teh CLEARLY DEMARKED sides of the trails. And yet, I could not muster the will to walk onto the glass floor of the CN Tower (a structure CLEARLY designed by sadists). Go figger.

Otherwise, just came back from getting my hair cut, and my head hurts. Although I have a pile of tasks to get through, I suspect it may be time to check the office rum supplies...

I also suspect I stepped in dog shit on my walk to the hair salon.

That picture would make an awesome painting, Jennifer.

I know people who can walk to edges, but I can't, and it's only gotten worse with age. Apparently my brain is too visual, and I my vesicular area is lacking. Pffft.

Sorry about the head. Is your hair person a zombie as well, and tried to eat your brains?

Bummer about the dog shit.

Grand Canyon is one of my scarier "left foots" visually, zrm.

(But not technically...in some of the less spectacular ones I'm hanging onto something with one hand and taking the pic with the other.)
~

Shit about the dog bummer, also.

I am looking to schedule a facade inspection for a 9 story building. Has to be done from a swing stage, although if there's a 100 foot bucket truck in the city, it will work. But let me tell you, those boom buckets get awfully bouncy when they are all the way extended....

I just looked at your link thunder, and my automatic response was "OH MY GOD!" which YL heard because she just got home. I showed her the image and she said, "Don't freak out, Mom. It's a picture."

One of my worst height moments was in Yosemite. Dear. Freakin'. Lord. Granite shooting up... wet granite shooting down... death possibilities everywhere...

ZRM- I will NOT go into the glass in the Big Willy. I will not. Leaning over the railing as they did in Ferris Bueller was bad enough. No box hanging in space for me.

I had to look at thunder's pic again. I would have just fallen over... plain and simple. Goodbye cruel world! I'm going! My knees and equilibrium have failed me!

I know in a past life I died when a Conastoga wagon plummeted off a cliff... I know it.

Be sure to photograph your left foot on the bouncy bucket..

Also, I'm now imagining my worst nightmare... a cliff on one side, and a herd of tarantulas on the other.

I did the inspection on this building five years ago. The swing stage is open on the building side, and a low railing on the fall side.

The building is old and did not have 208v electric on the roof. Inevitably, the stage motors heated up, and drew more load, and threw the breaker. While the rooftop rigger went looking for the breaker box, we were stranded seven stories up. We all took the opportunity to make phone calls, but one of the operators, while talking on the phone, was idly leaning on the railing and pushing off on the building with one foot. So the stage would swing away from the building, then swing back, banging into the masonry.

swing....bang

swing....bang

swing....bang.

Until the ZombArchitect unclenched his teeth enough to say "would you STOP that!"

UPDATE: Office rum was AWOL. Have to have a talk with the office supplies czar.

However, the office wine was stocked.

I don't think we will end up with a bucket truck. I think 100 foot is the tallest available, and the building has 12 foot ceilings, so it won't work.

I did the inspection on this building five years ago.

Did this come up in a Celeb Dream Cameo post with Mike Rowe?? Or am I insane.

Wait... don't answer that.

Small aside: do you ever find yourself amazed at the amount of minute knowledge we have about each other that the average bear might not?? Who knows about you Mike Rowe dreams?? I mean, other than Penthouse. :)

Whatever you end up in... take photos so I can puke and thundra can be superior because when he was up that high, he also got a flutterby shot!

I don't think I got a flutterbye pic at the Grand Canyon, but I did get a couple of some cute little lizards.
~

I love lizards! See! There's something a lot of people are afraid of that I'm not. I was feeling a little bit like a scaredy-cat after the last couple of posts.

You're also scared of Geddy Lee.

Only his singing...

Oh, we know you are biased against big-nosed Canadian Jews....

???

Umm... no...

Don't make zrm bring out the comfy chair!
~

So you think you are strong because you can survive the soft cushions. Well, we shall see. Biggles! Put her in the Comfy Chair!

Ha!

Zzzzzzzz....

Now -- you will stay in the Comfy Chair until lunchtime, with only a cup of coffee at eleven!

(Mandatory lonk)

P.S. I gotta comment at me place that's so whacky (my first cat!), that I'm tempted to leave it up.
~

I love that skit.

I'm off to check out the whacky comment... I got a fun beer email!!

I know people who can walk to edges, but I can't

Everyone knows that gravity can turn through a right-angle bend around the edge and COME AFTER YOU.

Also, I'm now imagining my worst nightmare... a cliff on one side, and a herd of tarantulas on the other.

Australia has just the place for you.

Everyone knows that gravity can turn through a right-angle bend around the edge and COME AFTER YOU.

Just like SPEEDRAS!!!

Australia has just the place for you.

Mmmmm. No!

I might go though... for the kange-er-roos....

Welcome tourists!

what an awesome photograph!

my mom is afraid of heights, and for the longest time wouldnt let me near edges, windows, balconies etc. so for a long time i grew up thinking I was the one afraid of heights. so way to go, lamblets!

My EL does not like certain heights like large stairways in glass enclosed spaces (which doesn't bother me), but she was fine with this. I don't think anything bothers YL.

Ah, Bob and Doug! You hoser...

I can deal with that much Geddy.

It's like it was sung by angels!
~

Guess who is on this chart...

~

LOL! He's pretty far out there on the wingnut/wankery continuum!

Also... our zero of wankery as Steve McQueen, the only man to live through the 1960’s without ever having a stupid haircut.

Good point.

I think they are overstating the wingnuttery of Geddy because of their unfortunate association with Ayn Rand back in the day. Actually, Dirk, Lerxst, and Pratt are all quite liberal.

When it comes to Rush, who you gonna believe?

Also, these are back in stock.

I won't disagree with the wankery aspect. Although I might quibble that punditical wankery is quite different from musical wankery.

I think we can all agree that Fred Hiatt and Tom Friedman are wankers.
~

Hey!! Who wants to go to painting class?!?

I do.

I will if we get snacks.
~

Well then, get in the car!

thunder is BANNNNNNNNNNNNED!

Don't even bring up snack and painting class in the same breath...the same sentence...the same... sameness!

KUNG FU ZOMBIE PAINTING.

We'll teach them a thing or two.

...but will there be drinks?

There should be, but I'm guessing my boss would frown on that. Of course, I do not frisk for flasks...

I'm off...

I'm off...

That's as may be, but we still like you Jennifer!

Did someone say painting class?

Heh! I even offered finger painting one day as a way to playfully explore. I was shut down, asap!

Yay for K's memory!

Did somebody say banned?
~

I'm guessing the one in the photo is YL.
Am I right?

Australia has just the place for you.

Bryson approved!

vesicular

I am afraid I can't let that one go. Vestibular, unless you are planning a stroke.

I think dr mrs fish had several strokes walking along the edge of the Grand canyon with our 4yo.

LOL! Yes, vestibular... egads.

fish has been hanging around zombies too much.

Or too little. One of those.

The sad thing is I knew it sounded wrong, but did I check?? Hell no! I've gotten lazy... knowing someone else will check it. :)

I was just surprised it wasn't bimler....

I know.

He probably couldn't read it because he was still wearing his glacier glasses.

damn yall have been blogging a lot. stupid to do list.

holy cow thunder I just felt like I was about to fall into the computer screen!

- With all the doggone snow we have had lately I am stuck indoors, fortunately there is the internet, thanks for giving me something to do.
