Of course his posts consist of lots of writing. Mine, as of late, have not... and still won't today. I'll use someone else's.

Breaking a monkey-hot sweat in Von's honor...

Yeah, I already broke a sweat with the post below, but was just sent this, by one of my lovely sisters.

That shower was MONKEY-hot!!!

Since Phineas and Ferb seems to be on at least a few times a week in our house, I'm often hearing the theme song rooms away.

Way back when... one of the first times I heard it, I thought they sang something like, "Taking a monkey-hot shower!" I tried to figure out what "monkey-hot" would be, in terms of water temperature. I could guess what monkey-hot would be for another possible activity, but didn't think that would fit with Phineas and Ferb and the whole Disney empire.

I think I finally sang "Monkey-hot shower" one of the times the show was on and was gently corrected by the lamblets, while Grizzled said something to the effect of, "There's something wrong with you...." Yeah, whatever, I'm not the one who married me.

Perhaps if you take a monkey-hot shower, you'll end up with a body as solid as prawns.

For Laura: Apron Junkie

Laura... kindred spirit of my filthbot soul*... has a thing for aprons. Especially hostess aprons. I wish I had known a few months earlier. I could have bestowed upon her a bevy of vintage beauties which were unearthed in my m-i-l's home.... But alas, they're gone, baby, gone.

I can, however, share an image from before my childhood even started, of 3 of my mother's good friends, all decked out for a bridal shower, wearing their hostess aprons, as any self-respecting woman of the 50's would do.

These woman are, from left to right... Edna, Jeanette, and Sylvia.They don't make names or aprons like those anymore.

* Filthbottery is still on lockdown around here since worklife is possibly overlapping with bloglife... also, if anyone asks, my children came about due to immaculate conception.

holiday notes to self:

A fresh tree is much heavier and unweildy than it will be in 4 weeks when you take it down. You might want to remember that when you get all crazed because the clock is ticking and decide the tree must go up NOW... and go careening through the house with 8ft of springy, sappy goodness. Either that or start working on upper body strength sometime back in September. You're not 27 anymore. You're not even 37 anymore. Oh hell, you're not even 47 anymore. 

Sap is hard to remove. Paint thinner residue is hard to remove. People don't like sap, or paint remover, on the freshly baked/decorated cookies you said you'd make them. Finish time-consuming cookies that others are meant to eat before handling the virile tree.

Take a valium before starting cookies instead of drinking 4 cups of coffee. Shaky hands don't work well on small details. However, pat yourself on the back for no longer taking orders and making hundreds. Your life and sanity have been prolonged.

Yeah, I know, I know... I've posted a photo of these for years now, but I'm always relieved when they're finished... and I'm happy. Who was it who said they didn't like writing, but they liked having written?? That's how I feel about these anymore. I dread doing them, but I'm always happy when I see their finished selves... and they make people happy, even if they don't eat them.

HEY!!! THEY DON'T EAT THEM! So who cares if they have pine sap or paint thinner on them!?!

We've got body parts!!!

I've been remiss in my blogging etiquette duties and have failed to shamelessly promote the blog of a good friend... which I was notified about a while ago, and even go to, to sneak an occassional peek at a peroneus longus muscle... or to figure out how to clean an animal skeleton...
