... why are all YouTube screens now black and devoid of any video possiblities?? I have uploaded all upgrades, plug-ins, etc, etc, etc. I have cleared old cookies, caches, etc, etc, etc. I can view Hulu videos, advertising videos, even advertising videos on the YouTube page, but no other videos on the site, or posted to other sites. Am I the only one having this issue?? Do I need to sacrifice a PC during a full moon in order to get video viewing rights back?? Or is this a YouTube problem. Any thoughts?
And, the first person (and the second and the third) who tell me to buy a Mac will be banned. I know. I know. Unfortunately, my home stuff has to work with Grizzled's office stuff...
who, me?
FWIW, I am not having that problem. However, I have little knowledge of Windows, so will be particularly unhelpful, even for a zombie.

I don't know, Jennifer, my youtubers are working fine.
(For instance, the cardinal chirping, which I took with the G12, downloaded from the camera to my winetop, uploaded to youtube, and then embedded on the blog, all yesterday.)

Antipodeans vs. Zombies: The Unhelpful-off!
You probably have tried your back-up browser? I ask merely to be annoying, since you shirley have tried this.
Posted by: zombie rotten mcdonald | July 06, 2011 at 12:57 PM
Yep, I did. I did this morning. No change. :(

Do I need to sacrifice a PC
Probably. I suggest defenestration.
Posted by: zombie rotten mcdonald | July 06, 2011 at 01:23 PM
Use Linux.

Throwing Windows out the window? Fitting. Unfortunately, this window is only 3 feet above ground. I need a catapult.
Mandos... and to think I was going to welcome you back from your long absence! Pffft. :)

Mandos
Apparently, the Valor were fans of open source.

A computerpult, to be precise.
or perhaps a tech-buchet, which could also be used on teevees, fax machines, and empty liquor bottles. OK, the last isn't particularly tech, but would keep the kids offa the damn lawn.

Use Linux.
For what?

Am I the only one having this issue?
Yes. You are THAT special.

:-P
My question should have been... is it my crappy computer or might it actually be a YouTube glitch...
Posted by: Jennifer | July 06, 2011 at 02:56 PM
Might be due to orb activity...
~

If memory serves... I think it might have something to do with having a 64 bit browser or something like that. I'm guessing an update was not copacetic with what I've got and I have to plug in something extra. I will bribe Grizzled's IT guy.
Posted by: Jennifer | July 06, 2011 at 03:57 PM
And frankly, I could use some orb activity! Bring on the freakin' orbs!!! Bring on the orbacles with all of the answers! Where are they?? Hmmmm?? Probably talking to Michele Bachmann. Pffft.

I'm verklempt. You were so helpful when it came to sow thistles...
Posted by: Jennifer | July 06, 2011 at 04:01 PM
Actually, you are probably better off without youtube.
Posted by: zombie rotten mcdonald | July 06, 2011 at 04:33 PM
However, I suspect Bimler could be QUITE helpful in designing a computer-launching trebuchet.

Although considering you will have to fire it through a window opening, it seems that an air-cannon might be a better choice, and unless the Mythbusters are lurking here, I think mikey is the go-to guy for projectile armaments.

I will cosine all zrm's arguments, and note that none of them involve my windows.

I am 100% a Linux shop, but your mention of 64 bit shenanigans suggests that it may indeed not be an OS problem but that 64-bit versions of browsers don't play nice with a 32-bit Flash player, regardless of OS.
MS Windows was forged in the fiery depths of Angband by imprisoned elven children and quenched with the poisoned sap of Telperion. Morgoth then installed it on every PC of the Ainur and subsequently infected them all with malware spun by Ungoliant. I had to reinstall everything with OS/2 for a while until I could get the standard Vala and Maia development suites ported to Linux.
Mac OS was written by that weaselly control freak Fëanor or one of his ill-fated spawn. *pokes stick at Fëanor* Obviously it is under the Doom of Mandos.

No, I know, and there's some sort of plug-in, but it's being recalcitrant. I can't remember what I did last time so like I said... time to bribe the IT guy.

my home stuff has to work with Grizzled's office stuff...
I was going to make a smart-ass comment that perhaps you should have Grizzled's office STAFF take care of it then, but you anticipated that.
Well played, Art Teacher. Well played indeed. I think you are quite prepared for the oldsters.

are you using Firefox, Jennifer?
Posted by: zombie rotten mcdonald | July 06, 2011 at 08:27 PM
Yes, I'm using Firefox.
Posted by: Jennifer | July 06, 2011 at 08:59 PM
try uninstalling flash player completely and re-installing it. if that fails, see if this works http://www.youtube.com/html5
Posted by: almostinfamous | July 07, 2011 at 01:08 AM
flash is a crime against humanity, and if Adobe is not also on the list for the Doom of Mandos, than what purpose doom?
Posted by: zombie rotten mcdonald | July 07, 2011 at 02:07 AM
aif- I did that yesterday and got not difference. I did it again this morning and poof! YouTube. :) Maybe I just needed your go ahead.
Posted by: Jennifer | July 07, 2011 at 06:21 AM
I think there is a YouTube video showing you how to fix the problem.
Posted by: fish | July 07, 2011 at 09:02 AM
I know. I loved that one. Anyhow, problem fixed! Heh.
Posted by: Jennifer | July 07, 2011 at 09:14 AM
Badly-written and inefficient code aren't sufficient to put anyone under the Doom of Mandos.

ZRM was off on a tangent.
