It's Arbor Day so everyone go out and hug a tree. It's also Claire's birthday today so everyone go out and hug Claire!
Claire, I would have made you a cake, but I didn't have the time. Instead, I borrowed this photo from the internets. It's a Buche de Noel... okay, okay, it's a Christmas cake, but it's the closest thing to a tree cake I could think of!
Happy Birthday, Claire!
Happy Arbor Day, trees!
Ha! Thanks Jennifer. I'm wearing a green skirt and a tree necklace in honor of les arbres.

Happy birthday Claire! All late and stuff, but you know.... :)
I'm wearing a green skirt and a tree necklace in honor of les arbres.
Possibly the most alarming thing I've read all day. Fashion emergency!
Jennifer, have you ever made a buche de noel? I did once, following Julia's recipe from one of her books. It tasted good enough, but given the labor involved to produce a cake facsimilie of something that's basically not attractive to begin with ("look everyone, I've put a log on the dinner table!"), I'd have to say it gave a whole new level of meaning to "overrated"

Res- hmmm, yes, I'd say the buche is a tad overrated. I made one in French Club in jr. high and that was enough for me.
What do you think Claire should have worn for the b-day/arbor day festivities?

It wasn't that bad!! Sheesh. Though, reading it now, it doesn't sound great. But I don't think I looked ridiculous.

Claire- I'm sure you looked fabulous. How was the day? Was it fun? I hope so!

It was good. I saw the special exhibit at the Art Institute, which was fantastic. Had lunch with friends. Hung out later with brother and friends and ended the night dancing.
This weekend was sooooooooo nice.
