TypePad has assured me all is well... I don't think so... I still have to do bizarre things to get at my dashboard... but I'm here.
Had the pleasure of taking in an afternoon movie with Grizzled yesterday. I don't recall the last time he and I went to see a big people movie on a Monday afternoon... probably before we had little people. We saw Up in the Air. It was good.
We also saw previews for the following. I will so be there! Grizzled will most likely NOT be there. BG? Wanna go? Maybe Grizzled and The Skimmer can keep each other company while we venture off to see the scary movie.
Embedded preview of Shutter Island has been removed due to autoplay annoyance factor. Should you wish you, you may see it here.
Up in the wee hours, I decided to pop in "Bad Ronald". Ever since looking it up online, I had a nagging question... where were the black glasses and how could my sister and I be so wrong??
For 30+ years, my sister and I would have sworn on a stack of Bibles that Bad Ronald wore black, plastic, Wayfarer glasses... we've had a running joke about it... want to make something bad? Put black glasses on it. Feeling bad? Don the black glasses. I can't even begin to list the number of doodles I did in my youth that had various inanimate objects wearing black glasses... there's only one problem, Ronald never wears them. He wears light brown, horn-rimmed glasses that would look perfectly normal today (see post below). They would have looked perfectly normal in the 80's, but I guess, this made-for-TV movie having come out in '74... those glasses looked positively ancient to us... akin to the black glasses any of our bad-ass parochial school teachers wore..
I am happy to report that Bad Ronald is still baaaaad. It was never meant to be a cinematic tour de force. I would also like to report that Bad Ronald was not so much as bad as he was misunderstood.
At one point, Grizzled was passing through and asked about Ronald, to which I said just that... he's not bad... to which Grizzled replied with something like, "Yes, but isn't the movie named Bad Ronald??" Well YES! But he's not bad, bad... he's just misunderstood and the victim of an unfortunate accident! To which Grizzled responds with a "Well, I know he's not bad, bad or they would have called him Bad, Bad Ronald!!" To which I believe I responded... "Get. Out!"
So, one bad movie down and one to go. "Bad Ronald" was as bad as I remember, but bad in a good way... I don't remember that much about Zardoz having watched it many, many years ago and in an inebriated state... having actually forgotten at one point that I had even seen it. From the little I recall, it's just baaaad. I can't remember if Sean Connery wears black glasses though...
